Working with Dena Epstein's pioneering research, Clarke Buehling, Scott Didlake and Pete Ross created gourd banjos now played by many famous banjo players, including Tony Trischka and Rhiannon Giddens. This is an extra chapter in the DVD...
Minstrel Banjo - A window to the slave origins of clawhammer banjo, with Bob Winans
Просмотров 95 тыс.9 лет назад
Banjo Scholar, Dr. Bob Winans, explains how his study of the minstrel banjo, at one time a controversial subject because of minstrel stereotypes, is revealing how slaves played the banjo. Comparing African American banjo players in the 1970s with banjo "tutors" from the 1800s, Winans has found a remarkable link. Their playing styles are similar - one "recorded" in the 1800s, the other passed do...

The greatest scholar of the roots of the banjo, a great musician, and a wonderful teacher of children responsible for Nora Brown, as a good and noble friend, writing me about my own inconsequential personal problems, the night he died. I keep his picture on the wall where he is looking down on me telling me to get to work!

I appreciate your concern for innocent lives Z Boys. I am a part of putting up the Memorial Mile. Veterans for Peace works to educate people on the costs of war. We work to stop war and eliminate nuclear weapons. We need to recognize our effects on the world and realize what is really right and wrong. War profiteering and US war crimes are wrong. The enemies that Americans have are mostly created by our government.
